Vela Luka

City of Vela Luka is the largest town on the island of Korcula. Archaeological findings from the cave Vela Silja prove first settlements in the local area in the Neolithic period. This valuable archaeological collection is stored in a Baroque residence Kaštel together with findings from the local Roman sites. Local Classicist church of St. Josip was built in the 19th century. In the chapel of St. Vincent there is a bust of the local priest, who is credited with the development of the city.

Nowadays there are Kalos bath und spa resort, shipyards and fish factory next to historic buildings, hotels and beaches. Of course, there are plenty of shops and banks, pharmacy, doctors, restaurants, cafes, marina and ferry to the island of Lastovo, Hvar and mainland city of Split.
